The first step is to make the intention to do Wudu and say Bismilla Hirrahma Nirrahim ( In the Name of Allah the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful). Then you must wash your hands, three times, up to the wrists ensuring that water has reached in between your fingers.
Then you must take water and gargle three times,
Then using the index finger of your right hand, the inside of the mouth should be washed, ensuring water reaches the throat, the gums and under the tongue. If any type of food is stuck in the teeth, it should be removed.
Next, water should be taken with the right hand and sucked into the nostrils, until the water reaches the bone. The inside of the nostrils should be cleaned by using the thumb and the little finger of the left hand. This should be done three times.
Now take water with both hands and wash your face three times. |
The area that should be washed should start from the forehead, where the hair begins to grow up to and including the chin. The area from the right hand earlobe to the left hand earlobe should also be washed. For the Muslims brothers who have beards, the beard must also be washed and you must run your fingers between the beard. |
Washing the arms comes next. The Right arm should be washed first, starting from the wrist all the way up to and including the elbow, then the left arm should be washed in the same manner. This procedure should be done three times for both arms. |
Masah: This is passing of the wet hands over the head, ears and the neck. The method is to join the fingertips of both hands, leaving out the index fingers and the thumbs, and running water over these six fingers. Then brush these fingers over your hair, starting from the forehead and ending by placing the hands at the back of the neck. At all times you must ensure that the palms of both hands, the index fingers and the thumbs do not touch the head. |
Then you must bring your hands forward by using the palms and rubbing them on either side of the head. |
Next, using the wet index fingers rub into the grooves and holes of both ears and pass the thumbs behind the ears. |
Now pass the back of both hands over the nape of the neck ensuring that the hands do not touch the throat as this is makrooh (disliked). |
Then wash both feet three times, with the right foot first, starting from the toes and going up to and including the ankles. Make sure that water reaches between the toes. This can be done by passing the little finger of the left hand between the toes of both feet. |
The Wudu (ablution) is now complete. |
