Lailatul Qadr: The Night Of Power

This is one of the holiest and the most blessed nights, which is very likely to occur on one of the odd nights on the last ten days of Ramadan and most likely to be the 27th. The reward of worship on this night is better than worship of one thousand months, equivalent to a person's lifetime. So on this night one should pray nafil namaz, recite the Holy Qur'an, do Tasbih, Zikr, Duas, etc as much as possible.

In a Hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu anhu), the Prophet (sallallaho alai hi wasallam) said: Whoever fasted the month of Ramadan out of sincere Faith (i.e. belief) and hoping for reward from Allah, then all his past sins will be forgiven, and whoever stood for prayers in the night of Qadr out of sincere Faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven."

SOME SPECIAL PRAYERS AND ZIKR FOR THIS NIGHT

1. SEEKING FORGIVENESS. Hazrat Ayisha (radi Allahu anha) asked the Prophet (sallallaho alaihi wasallam) that if she happened to get the night sublime what prayer should she say. The Prophet (sallallaho alaihi wasallam) replied that she should say the following prayer:
"Allahumma innaka afuwun tuhib-bul af-wa fa-afo anni."
(0' Allah, You are the One who grants pardon for sins, loves forgiving, so forgive me.)

2. RECITING ASTAGHFAR. The following should be recited as much as possible:
"Astaghfirullah hallazi la-ila-ha ilia huwval Hayyul Qayyumo wa atu-bu ilaihe"
(I seek forgiveness from Allah, the Almighty, there is no God but He. He is the self-Existent, the Eternal and I return to Him)

3. RECITING SURAH 'INNA ANZALNAHU..' Allah Ta'ala forgives a person's sins, saves him from trouble and from ghosts. In addition 70,000 Angels pray for his forgiveness.
"Inna anzalnahufee lailatul Qadr. Wa maa adraka maa lailatul Qadr. Laiiatul Qadri khairum min alfi shahr. Tanazalul malai-katu var-roohu fee ha bi izni Rabbihim min kulle amr. Salaamun heya hatta matla-il fajr."

4. SOME SPECIAL NAFIL PRAYERS FOR THIS NIGHT.
*Two Rakat Nafil Namaz. After Surah Fatiha, in each rakat pray Surah lkhlas (Qulhuwallah...) 100 times. After namaz pray Durood Sharif 100 times.
*Four Rakat Nafil Namaz. After Surah Fatiha, in each rakat recite Surah Qadr (Inna Anzalnahu...) 3 times and Surah IkhIas 7 times. This lessens pains and agonies of death, and protects from torments of the grave.
Two Rakat Nafil Namaz. After Surah Fatiha, in each rakat pray Surah Qadr 7 times and Surah Ikhlas 7 times. Allah may forgive all your sins.
*Two Rakat Nafil Namaz. After Surah Fatiha, pray Surah Ikhlas 7 times. After namaz recite Astaghfar as shown at 2. above. Before you get up from your prayer mat Allah will have forgiven you and your parents' sins. Allah will ask the Angels to prepare sweet meats, plant trees and make a palace for you in Heaven. A person will not die until he sees these in his dream.
